Did you know…
The MKT Trail in Columbia was once part of the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad ("Katy Railroad"), and it played a major role in the city's early transportation and trade.

When the railroad ceased operations in the 1980s, the old railbed was repurposed into what is now the MKT Trail, a scenic hiking and biking path that connects to the Katy Trail State Park, the longest recreational rail-trail in the country. This transformation was one of the earliest examples of the "rails-to-trails" movement in the U.S.! 🚴‍♂️🌳
